Miriam your cheerful company and good humour are stand out memories of the 18 months I spent at Island School. Walking up into the woods behind your home and returning in the pouring rain, trying all those local Chinese cafes I never got to venture into as a youngster growing up in the mid levels, laughing our heads off in class. I regret we did not manage to organise a reunion in Hong Kong having re-established contact via Facebook. I shall be returning to this collection of memories to remind myself of the hole that is left by your early departure from this earth. I won't forget you. Helen

Dearest Mimi, I will never forget our fun filled days in Koh Samui....which always began with your skype messages, announcing that you had bagged my favourite place on the beach. You would say, "Madame, your sun bed awaits you," and lo and behold, I would appear from two rooms away, to find that you had laid out fresh towels and lots of gossipy magazines for us to browse through, during the day. One day, you set off on a practice swim for your Shek Ko fundraiser, where you asked me to "spot" you in the sea. I thought you would do a few lengths in the sea and be back fairly soonish, but no Mimi, you swam and you swam, until I could no longer see you.....you went for blooming miles! When you did finally emerge from the sea, you were greeted by the hotel staff, who were about to set off in their canoes to find you! This was the start of our friendship. I miss you Mimi and send you very much love, always. xxx

I am just an ex island school student and wanted to say sorry for the passing of Miriam and hope it gives you comfort that she is in a better place now. May she rest in peace in the after life. Take care Julian Chao
